Things About Bra A Women Should Know

Here are some important facts about bra which you would have wanted to know but were afraid to ask.

The majority of the support is provided by the band, which should fit firmly against the body of the women at the loosest set of hooks.

The shoulder straps should not be designed to take majority of weight and if they are digging into the shoulders, the female requires a better-fitting band.

Another important thing is that they shouldn't slip off your shoulders.

The underwire should be capable of encapsulating the breast (and underarm flesh) and tack firmly against the breastbone.

The bra cup should get filled and if there is space left at the top, then you are in need of a smaller size.

The nipples are going to be level with the middle of your upper arm if the bra fits you properly.

10 Tips to buy a Bra:

Bra Buying Tips

Go to the right place: Select a store which has a wide range of bras and trained bra fitters on hand. Measure yourself first as a guideline so you know where to start looking once you get there.

Make a list: Go to the store ready with a list of what bras you need and plan to buy. This may vary from person to person but two nude bras, two black bras, one strapless, one sports bra and one bra without underwire for comfort is a good begening point.

Know your body type: Be aware of your body type so you know what kind of bras to look for. For instance, if you are more of a top-heavy "apple" shape, you will likely be looking for fuller coverage bras, not demi-cups. If you are not sure what type you are, a full guide by body type can be found on Internet.

Check for transparency: Wear or bring a thin T-shirt to the store so you can see how different bras look like under the sheerest of circumstances. You do not want any surprises the first time you wear it!

Be open-minded about your size: If you are surprised (or embarassed), remember that the bra size is just a number (and a letter). The proper fit of the bra is the most important thing.

Be flexible: If you are in a bind and there is a bra which you really love but they don't have your size, it's generally fine to go up a band size and down a cup size – or vice versa.

Have a sharp eye: Don't be afraid to wear the bra on and face yourself in the mirror with a critical eye. If you notice any gaps, spillage, digging in or other signs of poor fit, it is not the right bra. Turn around and observe at the back as well. The back band can be very telling too when it comes to proper fit. There should not be any gaping, riding up or bulges.

Top Tip
A new bra should fit perfectly when using the first hooks, as the bra is worn and stretches over time, you can then adjust accordingly.

Don’t forget
If you are exercising you MUST wear a sports bra that fits you and is suitable for your chosen activity.

Proper care of your bra:
  • Handwash underwired bras in lukewarm water
  • Wash light and dark colours separately
  • Never tumble dry underwired or delicate bras
  • Fold bras neatly away to prevent damage to the underwire
  • Avoid folding moulded cups over each other, instead lay flat
